LANCIANO, located in the Province of Chieti, is a very old town that preserves
its peculiar narrow streets from the Middle Ages and picturesque traditional
markets going back to Roman times.
Visiting the old part of Lanciano you will be very impressed by the imposing
architecture of San Francesco Cistercian church and you will appreciate the
peculiarity of the Cathedral built upon an extraodinary system of bridges,
well known as Diocleziano Bridge.
Lanciano, the main centre of attraction in the area, is famous all over the
world for the Eucharistic Miracle, International Music Courses and music festivals.
Today it is a modern and elegant town of 40.000 inh. which offers cinemas,
theatres, typical restaurants, cafés, pubs, wineshops, museums, exhibitions,
a stadium and a modern sports centre.
Lanciano is situated a few Kilometres from the sea - San Vito, Rocca San Giovanni
and Fossacesia beaches - and is 45 minutes from the high mountains: Roccaraso
and Rivisondoli (1200 meters above sea level) are the most fashionable ski
resort in the region, Pescocostanzo (1400 m.) is an extraordinary example
of Renaissance Architecture immersed in a incomparable landscape.
